So, I have been waking up in the mornings so, so achy. No, I’m not doing yoga – that ended a long time ago. I do try to stretch a little right away, but that’s mostly to make my knees stop hurting.
So, since I have a bad memory and can’t seem to remember a time when I wasn’t achy when I woke up (but might have just been a week ago), my question is: Are you refreshed and rested when you first wake up, or are you also kind of creaky? If you answered ‘yes’ and then ‘no’, what kind of mattress do you have, and may I borrow it?
Brad says
I’ve been achy before, but not lately. I might guess that stress has something to do with it. Maybe you’re not sleeping as well as you could.
My other guess would be exercise. But it’s funny that I suggest that because I have all the time in the world right now, and still can’t seem to get exercising.

I’m achy all day due to various conditions. And I don’t sleep well usually due to various conditions … so I guess I’m not a good one to answer this question.
But before I became decrepit, I liked my mattress … and surprisingly, it’s from BJs.
Btw: Don’t you sleep on a lounge chair?
Lauren says
Only occasionally now. It’s great for napping but uncomfortable more than one night in a row. Maybe I need to see a chiropractor. Or a time wizard that can make me 20 again.

No and yes. I start most days a little achy and creaky, but it passes as I get moving. We keep thinking that we would be refreshed and rested if we got more sleep, but the alarm goes off so early and the kids keep talking so late:)

If I get woke up by something (alarm, phone, or the most frequent occurence, my cat), I wake up completely incorherent -- always have. I do not feel rested right away and move quite slowly until I’ve been up and around for several minutes. On the rare occasion I’m allowed to sleep in (did I mention my CAT), I’m usually OK. If we didn’t love her so much -- we’d banish her to a sound proof room at night.

We’re also looking for a new mattress because we’ve been waking up achy for the last several months. Though recently it occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, we’re getting old.
Or maybe it is just time. The mattress is 10. What do you think, old mattress or simply the joy of being 32?
Gretchen says
Ha! Our mattress is ancient too! We got it when we were first married and it was the cheapest one at the store; the salesman said it would only last 5 years. It has been that plus 12. Every time we move we say we’ll get a new one but then moving is so expensive I can’t bring myself to spend the money.
Lauren I am definitely creaky when I get up. (I nearly typed CRANKY -- Freudian slip, eh?) this morning it is my neck and my right ankle.
