This has the potential to be a great story, except it won’t because I have five minutes before I need to be in bed, so you’re getting the abbreviated, haiku version.
Many years ago
Visiting friends in New York
Plans to see a show.
Lloyd made list of shows
ranking from best to the worst
Les Mis not on list.
Deb buys the tickets,
calls us to say “It’s Les Mis.”
Lloyd grumbles, “Dang it!”
That is the one show
I did not even rank ’cause
It looks so stupid.”
We went anyway.
Turns out that Lloyd just LOVED it.
Sang it all the time.
He bought the soundtrack.
We played it while we cleaned house,
Sang it on car trips.
Sang it while showering,
Sang it while reading a book,
Sang it all the time.
Now it’s a movie.
SNL sang ‘One Day More‘
I made Lloyd watch it.
So what do you think?
Should we go see the movie?
Can joy be caught twice?
Brad says
I’ve never seen Les Mis. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it though, so I’ll be seeing the movie. I’m curious to know if the movie follows the stage play strictly, or if they changed it.
Your post led me to do a Les Mis google search, which led me to this:

It’s a Saturday Night Live clip.
Peggy says
Are you drunk?
Peggy says
Yes! See the movie.
It looks like it will will be,
A joy to see twice!
(I’ve never seen it either & I definately want to see go. And with Lloyd’s recommendation, how can it miss?)
Peggy says
Btw: I’m not drunk….just in a hurry.
Lloyd says
When I tell people I like it I like to say, “I really liked less miserables”.
