The Monday after Thanksgiving, sooooo many children came in with runny noses and coughs it was astonishing. They are just little kids, so they don’t know how to blow their noses and we were going through tissues like crazy. They don’t know how to use tissues either – most of them are dabbers, with the exception of Emma who took half a dozen out of the box to wipe the snot over to her ear. *jibblie* I actually drew a diagram of the inside of human head so we could see where the ‘wet’ was and learn how to take a deep breath, close your mouth and BLOW through your nose so all the wet comes out.
It was not effective.
I’ve also had parent-teacher conferences this whole week, so after each day of teaching there was a night of talking. Around Wednesday I started to get a sore throat, but also some raging heartburn. It was tough to tell what the real culprit was – talking, acid or Emma? Whatever it was, I conked out for a weekend of sleeping to knock those germs out of commission.
I’m glad to see that this house was full of solidarity.
