Lloyd really wants a Magic Bullet. Ever since he got to play with Beth’s at her Dinner in a Bullet party, he has been smitten. He doesn’t want one that’s new, though, he wants to get a used one at a super price like she did. I think he has a bit of Amazing Cheap Find envy.
I have been looking. Once at Bed Bath and Beyond they were selling a display model, but I foolishly didn’t get it because they didn’t have the extra stuff. A couple of weeks later in the ShopKo clearance area they had all the stuff, but no Bullet. Stupid, stupid me.
Oh, well. I’m still looking off and on. Craigslist seems to be the next best thing, and it’s always fun to have a quest, right?
Long ago I replaced our wonderful old thrift-store blender with a gadgety, fold-up one, and that was a huge mistake. The new blender was weak and terrible, but the old one was at school, with paper scraps permanently adhered to it because I never bothered to clean it out thoroughly after we made paper. I’d just rinse it and put it in the cupboard for next time.
Well, today I went and got it back. I cleaned it all up, and used the wonderful feature of attaching a mason jar to it to make a smoothie. Lloyd was happy, but he still wants his Bullet.
It was just frozen peach and nectar stuff. This was Beth’s cool tip – just put whole peaches in the freezer! I wrapped ours up in Glad Press-N-Seal, and now Lloyd can have ten more half-peach-non-Magic-Bullet smoothies. You just rinse them under hot water and the skin comes right off. Warning: They are incredibly dangerous to cut while frozen. Very, very rolly and slippery.
Worth it, though.

Don’t buy a bullet; we will send you ours. We have had 2 and loved them, but the spinny thing wears down and it stops working. We are in the wear down stage, but maybe a gadgety person like you can give it new life. I will start looking for packaging. Enjoy!
Lloyd says
Sweet! I’m all for trying a little spinny thing reconstruction.

It’s a mixer! It’s a blender! No, it’s a homemade bullet!
(take off of It’s a bird, it’s a plane…but it didn’t work)
Excellent Lauren!!
What did you mix with the frozen peaches?
Lauren says
“Master of Mixes” Mango/Margarita Mixer -- “Ask for Real Fruit!” It’s mostly thick sugar water with some (15%) fruit juice in it.
Brad says
Do you freeze the peaches before removing the seed? Isn’t it hard to get the seed out of a frozen peach?
Lauren says
No seed removal beforehand. Just wrap the peach up (or bag it) and throw it in the freezer. After rinsing off the peel I cut it…… longitudinally (ha! That’s a word!) around the seed then around ninetydegreesally (that is not a word), then levered out a section. Super dangerous, and that’s what made it fun. The seed actually popped out pretty easily from this. I wonder if freezing it makes the flesh pull back.

I’ll admit, I’m not really up on current events, but wasn’t there some executive order against bullet-type things? Maybe a full background check or waiting period or a limit on how many of these bullet devices you can have? Please fill me in; our satellite is out.
Lloyd says
The limit is on the number of peaches you can put in it at one time.
