Lloyd had Bad Movie Night tonight (Tuesday), and I had a little bit of hope that I would go into Lincoln after work and bum around. However, as I was packing up my stuff, a mom reminded me, “That meeting is tonight if you want to come.”
Dang it!!! I forgot.
I really wanted to go to Lincoln, but earlier I had expressed interest in her plight and she invited me to the city council meeting where the people on her street were going to protest another street going in their backyard wildlife/farmland area.
That is the short version of their story.
The meeting – just their part – was two and a half hours long!!!! Oy! I had signed on for maybe 45 minutes of support, but as it went on and on and on I felt bad about wanting to leave, so I didn’t. Plus, everyone spoke passionately and rationally (except one lady who sounded a tiny bit crazy), and it was like watching a bad movie or being mostly through a badly-written book: I needed to see how it ended.
I did feel badly that I was sending a lot of ‘I am bored’ texts to Brad and Lloyd. My clicky phone gave me away.
The council voted 6 to 2 to pass the road. Boooo.
Now I am exhausted and headed for bed. What did you do with your Tuesday evening?
Brad says
Choir practice and Bible study. And texting with Lauren. Hehe….

Helped with homework and spelling words; worked on trip plans; and fretted that a vacation rental for Spring Break (in Portugal!) that we have paid for is actually a scam.
Kris says
Gave baths, read stories, tucked little people into bed, tried to convince Thing One that she isn’t as sick as she claims to be; hung out with the big kids until they went to bed; visited with Jason and helped him eat the leftover dessert when he got home from a meeting; fielded a call from the prodigal son about the fact that he’s getting kicked out of his house come the end of the month.
Lauren says
Good grief. This meeting would have been a vacation for you!
Kris says
But I got dessert:)

Argh….all that time & not even a win. Well I would have voted for no road.
I went to dinner with a friend last night for my birthday….because I was sick on my real birthday.
Then my son came over to tell me about his awesome experience at the Ravens parade. He was standing right outside the stadium & got to shake or high-five Harbaugh & the players as they went into the stadium. And he got to touch the trophy. He was very excited!

The happy dance was happening over here. Our visas for our trip were approved, so we can finally go…. NEXT WEEK! I drank a little wine, sent a few emails, drank some more wine, played a game with our daughter, tried to download some audiobooks onto the mp3 player, finished another glass of wine, and attempted to sleep… unsuccessfully.
Sorry the road people won. Maybe you can deposit all of the future road kill at the doorsteps of those who voted for it.
Lloyd says
I, for one, would like to see the happy dance sometime.
