I have some children in my class who have terribly dry skin on the backs of their hands. I have been using a lotion bar on them after we wash hands, and it seems to be helping. I shared the info with one mom, and sent one home with her to try. She thanked me for it the next day and another mom asked about it. (‘And they tell two friends, and they tells two friends, and so on and so on…’ Anyone? Anyone?) I brought her one (these have all been freebies) and she wrote to me that very afternoon asking if I would sell some to her.
Really? Ok.
I wasn’t sure what to charge I went with two bucks for the little ones and three for the big ones. I’ve thought about making these as an ongoing fundraiser for school (I would charge more – like a hundred bucks each), but as we all know, my stick-to-it-iveness is pretty shaky. I was honest with this mom, though, and said that I might not get them to her quickly. It turned out that there was time to make them this weekend.
(I have to modify that last part. There is always time on my weekends, it’s a matter of whether I’m napping or not.)
I’ve been making big bars, too. A juice can makes a nice mold, plus it’s cheap. When I get in that mode I look at everything around me wondering if it would make a good mold. It’s a little distracting.
She ordered three big bars and four little ones. She overpaid, but wouldn’t take the extra back, so I’ll take her pity. I’ll take her pity all the way to the bank!

Excellent! And your packaging is awesome! I love the bars in the bags.
And yup you could charge more without gouging people. It would make a great fundraiser. You could get people to help you with the process. It could be fun.

I would like to purchase a couple of little ones when you have a chance to make some. I could pick them up from Lloyd at school over my lunch hour. Thanks.

Tammy, I’ll get right on that. I ran out of labels, though, and can’t seem to find the file to print more. Serves me right for printing those six years ago…..
Brad, throw those bars out! ‘All natural’ means ‘rancid by now’.

That is really attractive packaging. I still have a couple of tins of lotion bars in my bathroom closet in Baltimore. Do you think it’s worth something after all these years? Maybe I could sell it on Ebay.

I wondered why I was having to drink all of that orange juice lately.
