Well, Saturday was filled with promise! I woke up, made a good breakfast and headed into Lincoln. I had made a list and had a plan of attack to be very efficient and get all my errands done so I could head back home and get other things accomplished.
I pulled up to my first store (where I could spend a gift card!), patted my coat pocket to make sure I had my wallet……..
Nothing.
Pat pat pat the other pockets.
Nothing.
Check the car seat.
Nothing.
Panic.
Panic.
PANIC!
I called Lloyd and he couldn’t find it at home, so there was another round of panic for me because the last time I remember having it was in Kearney. (He later found it.)
Arrrgh. Lloyd had emergency car money but it was only twenty dollars, and that wasn’t going to cut it. My emergency key chain thingie only had a dollar in it. (It had been empty for a while and I was demonstrating it to some school-age kids at the CDC and used what I had.) I didn’t have my Sam’s card, my gift card, my card cards. Oh, the sadness.
So, I came home and started my Sunday work and will do the Saturday stuff tomorrow. Wasted trip!
Something did go right, but that’s tomorrow’s post.
How was your Saturday?

Went to Fruitgrowers Reservoir to see if any Sandhill Cranes were there. None. Did my Friday cleaning jobs. Walked the “circle” with Mom—one lap. Pruned four of Norbert’s six grapevines. (Two to go.) Opened up the big laptop and removed the hard drive. (The laptop died; refused to stay on.) Closed the case, sans drive. Copied some files off the drive to the older white laptop. Got some stuff up and running. Ate a most delicious supper Mom made. All the while rejoicing that Mom is up and about and feeling tolerably good in spite of unresolved issues.

I did end up running a bunch of errands….which will lead to more errands to return half the stuff I bought because the things I bought just don’t look right in the house.
I also checked out places for a wedding rehearsal dinner for my son.

I wonder if people would have given you money if you had stood at a stoplight with a cardboard sign explaining your problem. In Baltimore, people a lot of money asking people for handouts at stoplights.
