Inspired and tired

April 9, 2013

I got home a little bit ago from Family Night. Our center helps with these monthly events during the school year. They are hosted at different area churches and the families have a free meal, the. The children g off to play and the parents here a presentation, as I type this I realize I’ve already talked about these when I told you about my doomed sweater.

Well, I was wearing a different sweater tonight, and I wasn’t with the children. Instead I heard Carrie Gottschalk speak on Typical Behaviors of Children, and I just have to say, if you are local to Seward and ever have a chance to hear her, DO IT.

She speaks to how unwanted behavior means the kid lacks the skills to do the right thing. you have to…… never mind. I can’t oppour all the good information out of my tired brain right now.

She is wise. She is full of information. But best of all, she is funny. Not like ‘I’m a comedian’ funny, but in an ‘I’m a mom so I have real stories that back me up and I know what you’re going through, amiright?’ way. I just love her. At the end of her hour with us we all wanted her to go on.

I took copious notes to share with parents who couldn’t attend. If I get them written up, I’ll share them tomorrow.

What did you do Tuesday evening?

We had a farewell dinner to attend which means my kids did not get to bed until nearly 10pm. (The leisurely European dining style is to blame.) Ouch. This morning was a little rough, but I did get to eat one of my favorite things (mushrooms stuffed with feta and spinach) and I didn’t have to cook or wash dishes so it was worth it.

Mmmm….. I love stuffed mushrooms. Everybody’s always saying how easy it is to make stuffed mushrooms, but I have to think that it would take a fair amount of time. All that work and BAM -- inhaled in ten minutes. (by me) 😉

I went to the 5th -8th grade band concert at St. John. Everybody did well.

Oh where was that lady’s advice when my kids were little! I can’t wait to read your notes!

I don’t really do anything interesting during the week. Last night I had to stop at my insurance agent’s office, I went for a walk, & watched TV.

When I attend functions like that, I love being able to pick up tips. So often I also think: “Wow, that was obvious. Why didn’t it occur to me before?”

Ok, if anyone’s still checking this you can read my write-up and check it for typos, ’cause y’all know I never go back and re-read stuff. (This post being a glaring example.)
