Hands down, my favorite part of Lloyd’s dad’s surprise party was when we went to Grandma’s house to help with the food. Lloyd’s sister asked me to unload a bunch of stuff out of a plastic bin – bags and boxes of food and several crock pots. I held the last crock pot and said, “Now what goes in this?” She replied, “Oh, I don’t want those – I want the container to mix the potatoes in.”
What the what? Count me it!
It was hilarious. I kept thinking that it was like the episode of M*A*S*H where Hawkeye wants to mix all the fresh eggs up to make French toast – it was just an unimaginable amount of food. Bags and bags of hash browns, a baggie of chopped onion, cans and cans of cream of chicken soup, a container and a half of sour cream and a couple of bags of cheese.
Stirring it was a Herculean task, and I bent a couple of big spoons. Then it got packed into two big roasters (and had a couple of sticks of butter thrown in) and cooked for a few hours.
Awesome. Absolutely awesome.
