Okay, maybe it’s not technically summer vacation, because the teachers have to be in school this week, but on our first day without kids we went to do a rope course as a faculty. It was higher than any of us expected, but I think everyone had fun, including everyone who was scared –which I think included everyone at some point.
I shot some video…
I actually did nearly the whole thing before coming a little unhinged. The very last “obstacle” was just some non parallel lines. This was different because there was nothing to hold on to and no platforms to move between. My first attempt didn’t go so well. We decided to go across with partners leaning into each other for support. I was putting my foot on the wire in a different way than I had during the whole rest of the course and, because of the groove down the middle of my shoe, my foot kept sliding out from under me. At the time I didn’t realize what was happening. I did not like that.
So how high were you anyway?
I’m not really sure. I would say 40 feet. When we would look out we would be looking at the tops of the trees.
Yeah. No.
No. No. No. No. No. Maybe some of it, but not all of it. And not with people I know, for crying out loud. I could do this with perfect strangers because then I’d just be ‘that lady who peed her pants and wouldn’t stop screaming’ and not ‘Lauren, who we don’t talk to anymore’.
So, I guess you’re not used to being high?
Not that high.
Hehe….I think I’d have to be high to do any of that.
And LOVE LOVE LOVE these movies!!
A Last Minute Production…..HA!!!
In Baltimore, our eighth grade class did a thing like that one year. I wanted to go across a highwire just to see what it was like. I could barely get across. I would not make a good adventure movie hero… or telephone wire repair man.
