Whew. Sunday was a doozy. I got up bright and early so I could be at church in plenty of time to watch communion setup. I even helped a little bit and took copious amounts of notes. Afterward there are things to be done to put things away, but I don’t have to wash things up! That’s a totally different job!
Afterward I went home to change clothes and get the refreshments for the people that were going to help move pews after late service. Lloyd says that it’s nice to have drinks for people who are giving of their time. I had a small problem, though, since the low tubs that I’ve used to serve pops from were AWOL. I didn’t want to run home and get our coolers because they also need to be washed out, so I improvised in the home ec. kitchen. I figured it would cool them down, and the sinks have handy drains!
It all worked out fine. I was ON FIRE with adrenaline and worry, since I was certain that with it being Labor Day weekend, no one was going to show up for this event. We had a bunch of dedicated workers, though, for which I am eternally grateful. You can take a peek here.
Sam even showed up to help! However, he forgot his belt, so to avoid any trouble, Beth rounded up a substitute:
After most of the people left, a few of us cleaned everything up and I came home to sleep a looooooonnnnnng time. To those of you who sent me texts, I had my phone on vibrate and just now see the message but it’s too late to call you back. Sorry ’bout that.
It sounds like a pew-fectly wonderful day. Ha! I made a joke!
Wow! That is a lot of work! What dedicated people you have!
Love the shirt Cousin Sam. Are Hawaiian shirts a Summerer family tradition? I tried to make a joke like Brad, but failed.
Sam, you remind me of Dan with that look. I like the belt.
