For some reason I got a wild hair to look through the VHS tapes that are just sitting in a milk crate in my basement. We have a collection of movies we’ll never watch, TV shows that were taped to watch later (remember those days?) and various memory tapes. It’s not a huge collection, but since Lloyd has the VHS-to-YouTube equipment here, I did a little messing around.
Here’s the one I love the most. For those of you that didn’t go to Concordia, let me explain Spring Weekend. It happens the weekend before Dead Week. Students would get into teams and do all kinds of crazy stuff – egg drop, bed races (racing a bed on wheels down the street), volleyball games, obstacle courses, and the only thing I participated in with my team: the lip sync. Our team had a systematic approach all five years – Pick a song with a good story. Lauren narrates it, everyone else does some wonderfully clever acting. (Until the last year. We did not do well the last year.)
I believe this is 1991. Brad and Lloyd were supposed to document everything, so Lloyd is doing the camera work and at the very end you’ll get to see Brad being the host. I have been collecting snippets from this Spring Weekend, so you might be subjected to more later on, but today I give you….. The Coward of the County. Myrna is playing Tommy, and watch out for when she gets revenge!!
*sigh* We were all so young….
That was awesome!
I remember that one vividly. You guys were SO cool!
Haha! You guys did a great job.
I loved that song. I should get a Kenny Rogers greatest hits album.
Now that’s something I can do! Lip sync!
Good job class of 1991!
…and yes, please give us more!! Sooo fun to watch!
Loved it! You were young 🙂
I loved Alisha’s too, that is a great thing to do.
So, so good. Keep ’em coming!
