I have said it many times over the past week and a half, but this has been a weird string of days.
As I write this, we are in Lincoln picking up Samith’s car to borrow. We dropped Brad off at the Lincoln airport around 5:45 this morning and then took a leisurely drive down to Kansas City. We drove through a couple of small towns and looked at a few stores, but my enjoyment was dimmed by being so tired.
We had brought along an overnight bag in case they didn’t finish the car, but it was done by four and we were on our way. Good-bye, luxurious hybrid. Hello, old faithful Civic.
As we drove out of town, I heard a little squeak. Lloyd assured me it squeaked before.
We kept driving. It was a little rattle-y. We just turned the radio up. It wasn’t that bad at highway speeds.
As we approached Lincoln, it seemed QUITE pronounced. Enough that we pulled over to see what was going on. Lloyd propped up the hood and then pushed up and down on the car to find the squeak.
Found it.
Good grief. Something is loose and is carving our axle into a staircase spindle. You have GOT to be kidding me!
So, I am finishing this post in Samith and Stephannie’s very nice, luxurious Honda Accord. We left our car at their house so it won’t have an extra 60 miles of carving. Tomorrow we’ll drive back in and take it to Lloyd’s regular shop.
Tune in next time for more Misadventures of Vacation!!
