It was a productive Saturday. I went to work for an hour and a half, then drove to a home visit out of town and got lost. I misread my google earth picture and thought I had to drive eight miles instead of four. Stupid fields. It all worked out in the end, though. Then I went to Lincoln to pick up supplies for teacher workdays and also a kit to fix our toilet.
WARNING: There will be photos of the inside of an old toilet tank. I hope you don’t have a weak stomach. (It’s not really that bad.)
We have various house troubles right now. The kitchen faucet has been dripping for months, the condenser-thingie on the furnace/air conditioner is having trouble, and a couple of weeks ago the downstairs toilet started to lose water from the tank. I let it go until there was time, and almost thought about just buying a new toilet. Then I remembered that Lloyd bought a Prius, so there is no toilet money. Only $6 kit repair money.
When I checked the tank, I remembered that I’ve made this repair before. You glue a new ‘seat’ to the hole to make it stop leaking. Bleh.
Here’s the new seat on the old one. If this works out, next time it fails I think I’ll just keep adding seats until they rise above the level of the water!
By the way, I don’t resent the new Prius, but I sure am going to give Lloyd a hard time about it. More on that later.
