The CDC was closed today but I went to work for a couple of hours to work on the float. I did a ‘repair’ job on the star that involved 3 metal brackets, several zip ties and lots and lots of electrical tape. Good enough for once a year.
The other project was to run some rope lighting underneath so the words will show up. (You have to identify your group, and we’ll also have our float’s theme.) This is where the big bog-down happened. I took my hole saw, drilled out one side of the board, went to drill from the other side, and noticed that a vital screw that holds the contraption together had flown off. Since without that screw the saw was a Spinning Wheel Of Death, I spent a looooong time looking for a tiny screw on the carpet, then spent a looooong time looking for some sort of replacement screw, then spent thirty seconds securing the contrition with electrical tape, then another minute cursing myself out for not thinking of that sooner.
