This is only funny/relevant if you know about the 1960’s (1970’s?) cartoon adaptation of Lord of the Rings. Frodo was a short little Hobbit with a long pageboy haircut and big feet.
My siblings called me Frodo. Guess why?

Lloyd’s sister’s family went on a camping trip to Colorado last summer and she made a beautiful photo book to document the experience. (She is really good at making those books.) One of the places they went was Mesa Verde, and she had some gorgeous photos of the place.
I remembered that my family went there when I was three, but I didn’t know if I had pictures. Long ago I put gobs of my family’s photos on Flickr, but I have since let the account lapse and can no longer sign in. I could search for myself, and though I didn’t find any Mesa Verde pictures, there were plenty of our pre-Apache-camper camping days. God bless my parents for hauling their kids out into the beauty.
Not a Prius in sight.
Hold the phone! Just found ’em:

We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday with my folks in Missouri. It was a successful visit. At the height there were 2 parents, 3 siblings, nieces and nephews (1 each), 1 grand nephew (is that a thing?), 3 spouses, 1 girl friend, 3 kittens, 1 cat, 1 dog and 1 puppy. There was no appearance by the Christmas Chicken this year.
Christina and I both brought Settlers of Catan: Roads to Rails for the gift exchange. This turned out to be the right number, because we had 8 people who wanted to play.
We also learned how to play Munchkin and taught Declan and Paul how to play Magic the Gathering, because they were not big enough geeks already.
Also, kittens were pushed around.

You really want to travel, don’t you?

A gorgeous goblet,
A cheerful chalice,
A fantastic flute,
A winning wine glass!
Thanks, Beth!
(By the way, that is not wine. I don’t drink reds, but for the purpose of photography, two drops of red food coloring and a drop of blue will do splendidly!)

I am so peeved at Lloyd. At the Christmas Eve service there was a super-funny line in the bulletin and I asked him to save it so we could take a picture. He forgot. Some songs we sang from the hymnals, but most of the hymns were printed in the bulletin. If I remember correctly, above Silent Night it said, “The first verse will be sung in German, and then again in English. Non-German singers are welcome to give it their best shot.” It was so funny!
Dang it, Lloyd. Christmas is ruined! 😉
