Lauren, at work, needs to call Lloyd to remind him to go to church at 5:30 to set up for communion. Backstory: Lauren has forgotten that Lloyd went to a conference in Kearney.
Dials phone: Ring Ring Ring
Lloyd’s phone: This is Bob.
Lauren: Er, what?
Lloyd’s phone: Lloyd left his phone here.
What Lauren was thinking: Am I talking to his pocket? Is his pocket named Bob?
What Lauren actually said: [confused silence]
Lloyd’s phone: We drove him to the conference. He must have dropped his phone on the seat. I’m Bob. I have his phone.
Lauren: Oh. Where are you? Kearney?
Lloyd’s phone: Omaha.
Lauren: [confused silence]
I gave up trying to understand what he was saying after that. He was trying to tell me who was driving the car he was in and who he was and where in Omaha he lived and I finally just said maybe Lloyd could contact him later to get the phone? Then I hung up and started to call Lloyd to tell him he left his phone in…..
Oh.
Dang it.
I think we might need a landline again.
