We had another successful Bad Movie Night on Tuesday, and Lauren is finally letting me write about it. We didn’t go into it thinking it would be anything out of the ordinary. Samith investigated the movies this time around and presented us with two choices: Jupiter Rising or Kingsmen.
Samith characterized Jupiter Rising as, “potentially having some love story element involved.” And he characterized Kingsmen as, “Has Samuel L. Jackson ever disappointed us?” Or, in the case of Bad Movie Night, maybe that should be, “Has Samuel L. Jackson ever not disappointed us?” Or maybe, “Has Samuel L. Jackson ever appointed us?”
They* say that good movies are all good in the same way, but bad movies are all bad differently. I think it’s fairly safe to say that Kingsmen was bad in the Oh-Sh*t-We-Ran-Out-Of-Money-And-The-Film-Isn’t-Done sort of way. Which is sort of, but not quite the same as Dusk Til Dawn’s I-Bet-You-Didn’t-Know-This-Was-A-Vampire-Movie sort of way. Oh, and belated spoiler alert for Dusk Til Dawn.
Afterwards we ate a Five Guys and reminisced about other spectacular Bad Movie Night Movies. What are some great bad movies that you’ve seen?
*No one says that, I just make things up.
I saw both of those movies – one each of the last two Saturdays. I liked Kingsman better than Jupiter Ascending.
I think I’d like to see Jupiter ascending. Isn’t that the one where the girl winds up being an alien princess?
Yes. I enjoyed it. It was good for what it was. It was entertaining and had good special effects – lots of eye candy.
Eye candy as in hot chicks…..or special effects?
I was wondering that too.
Well, it does have that actress from Modern Family in it. Or is it the other one who’s from That 70’s Show?
I meant lots of special effects and sparkly scenes.
I’m sorry the teachers didn’t follow the directions Lloyd. An Administrative Assistant will never let you down.
But it’s hard for me to think of a great bad movie. Oculus comes to mind. It was a pretty good mystery….but a bad ending. I only saw this because a Towson University graduate wrote & directed it.
I’m sure there are a bunch of others….but I can’t think of them. It’s hard enough for me to remember the movies I like.
I sometimes repress my bad movies too.
One of the worst movies I ever saw was Rhinestone. Yup, I paid money to see it.

Crazy movie we saw recently was Autumn Osage County. Most dis functional family ever saw. Thank goodness we didn’t pay to see it.
