On Friday, one of my preschoolers (Ali) said, “There’s supposed to be a supermoon on Sunday”. (She actually said ‘soo-pa-moon’, which is 87% cuter.) “That’s right!” I remembered. I told Lloyd about it when we were camping and he immediately sent a text to Sam: Supermoon party at your house on Sunday.
It was a super supermoon party! Deborah, Samith, Rachel’s parents and aunt and uncle, the Pesters and Lloyd and I were there. Sam and Rachel made homemade pizza, and we all ate like kings then sat around a campfire in Sam and Rachel’s HUGE backyard to watch it happen. It was glorious!
Here’s the link to the super-science-y video and artcle: Supermoon.

Shucks! I didn’t know that was happening. I missed it. Now I’ll have to wait until 2033.
Deborah says
Thanks, Sommerers! It was amazing!
Kristi says
It was super-cool!

That sounds like such fun! A supermoon party!
Dang it. I guess I haven’t been watching enough news lately to know it was happening. It was cloudy here last night….but when I got up to let the dogs out about 1am, the skies had cleared some….and I did notice it seemed exceptional bright on the porch. I didn’t know why & was too asleep to investigate or care. So close…all I had to do was step outside and I could have seen it. 🙁

Mom and I sat in our front yard and watched it for a while. We (sniff, sniff) didn’t have pizza, but it was 65* or so. Three-year old Colby, next door, imitated me when I yelled, “Good night, moon, good night!”

It was awesome having everyone there. Mark your calendars for 2033 -- its a date! You may have to remind me though, cuz with my memory what it is now, by then I won’t have any left.
