Everyone’s second choice for Bad Movie Night was Pride & Prejudice and Zombies.
Don’t tell anyone, but I’m as big a Jane Austin fan as the next guy. Okay, I’m probably a little bigger Jane Austin fan than the next guy. I think all of us agreed that if you haven’t seen Pride and Prejudice, you shouldn’t see this movie. And if you don’t particularly like Pride and Prejudice, you’d better be (a) a big fan of zombies and (b) fairly open minded about your zombies.
I actually really enjoyed it. It was amazing to me how closely all of the major plot elements of Pride & Prejudice were incorporated. I don’t know if I was more impressed when the dialog was exactly the same or when it was changed cleverly to reflect the, um, new circumstances.
Samith was surprised at how long the movie was. Curt, who had no prior Pride and Prejudice experience, thought it was a very bad movie indeed.
Brad says
I have not read or watched “Pride and Prejudice”. I didn’t have a strong interest in seeing “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”. After seeing Curt’s opinion, I think I’ll refrain for now.
I was curious about “Hail, Caesar”, but it seems like it’s not doing well, so now I don’t know…
Maybe I’ll just stay home and watch “The Fifth Element” for the thirty-seventh time on cable.
Lloyd says
Hail Caesar was third on the list. Mostly because of the Coen Brothers. I don’t like all of their movies, but it’s a big enough percentage that I’ll always go see a new one.
Jill says
So what was the first choice and why was it skipped?
Lloyd says
We all had different first choices, but we all had the same second choice.
Deborah says
I think you’re making this movie up. Or else this movie was made specifically for Bad Movie Night people.
Lauren says
Apparently it started as a book. I’m not even kidding: http://www.amazon.com/Pride-Prejudice-Zombies-Classic-Ultraviolent/dp/1594743347
