Today was the last day of our school-year program. Yesterday was the last day for the Tuesday/Thursday kids. Last week was one boy’s last day because he went on vacation. Next Tuesday is one girl’s last day; next Wednesday is one boy’s last day; and next Friday is two girls’ last day. (Their parents are all teachers who need to finish up their year.) Monday is also the first day of our summer program, where the 3’s class is absorbed by mine and two brand-new children will also be joining us. (Two more will be joining us in July.) I am training one new afternoon staff member and next Monday is our summer staff meeting.
*sigh* It just never ends. I am not complaining. Wait – nope, I’m complaining again. Not that I have to work all year, but that I am always starting and ending things, and really – I just want some sameness.
Anyway, here is something that is a little different. When I went on that tour in Boulder, they labeled the child’s cubby with their name and their parents’ names. I like that for a lot of reasons: 1)I’m not good at remembering parents’ names, 2) I can add the ‘Mr.Mrs.’ to their name (I don’t like when children call adults by their first names if they’re not close friends/family, 3) I could add the ‘Child of God’. I like it.
