Yep, I’m just sticking with the theme. I am opening this week, which is not a big deal. The morning begins in quiet, which is very nice.
I should back up and say that last week I got most of the ordering done for the big furnishings. The grant money pays for more than half of the big items, and there was a company that worked a very nice discount into the system. Anyway, they said delivery would happen in 2-4 weeks, depending on the item and company.
Well, five days later the first shipment came in. I skipped out of recess and high-tailed it over to the new center to meet the semi with Lloyd. We loaded ten tables and their legs (some assembly required) into the basement, and once again, I was a sweaty mess.
In the meantime, the stone guys were putting the stones around the pillars. Yesterday one of them had mentioned that he could put a cross on one of the pillars. I thought about it overnight and decided where a good spot would be – right as you walk out the front door. I mentioned it to him this morning and he said, “Oh, I was just joking.” I replied, “No, you weren’t. You have to do it.” I took some more stuff to the basement and when I came back he said, “Like this?”
Perfect!! I can’t wait to see it finished. It will be the secret, hidden cross that the children will love to find. 🙂
