This summer I came across a cool idea from a Reggio-inspired blog. It showed a classroom where the teacher had a beautiful arrangement of each child’s initial. They were plain letters purchased from a craft store, and each child got to paint and decorate theirs on their birthday, resulting in an ever-changing, lovely display that inspires literacy.
Um. So cool, but….I am cheap. I have no time or disposable money for letters. However, I also have a coping saw and some left-over lumber and am in no big rush to get this job done. We have been working on ours for weeks. Some of us are go-getters with the saw. Some of us (I’m looking at you, Nora), saw for ten seconds then slump to the ground saying, “I’m tired”.
It’ll get done. Eventually. We’ve already missed six birthdays.
