The Lord is Risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
On Good Friday I was thinking about Joseph of Aramathea. He gets very little airtime in the Easter story but had a small, important role. Then I thought about how we hear so little about Mary’s Joseph after Jesus was born, and that got me thinking….
Several of you have already seen this from Facebook, but it’s enough material for a post:
Two men named Joseph,
Bookended His life.
One with a grave.
One with a wife.
One a poor carpenter,
One a rich man,
Each unexpectedly
Part of God’s plan.
Each with a space
Not exactly his own:
A tomb to be buried,
A womb to be grown.
Each one preparing
For life’s best and worst,
And each acquiescing
To God to be first.
Each man protecting
The body of Christ
Until at each end
He began His new Life.
