Well, despite the terrible flooding and road damage and general awfulness here in Nebraska, I did get a little job done Friday afternoon.
When we moved into the new building, we brought all our old junk with us. We needed a bulletin board for parent information, so we slapped up the little one that we had. It has been woefully inadequate for our needs.
If you are ever looking for an inexpensive alternative to corkboards, home improvement stores sell 2′ x 4′ panels of this stuff called homasote, which is like a dense, pressed paper-pulpy slab. I don’t know what it’s made of, but it’s cheap and easy to cover in fabric.
I slapped them up on the wall and tried to make some categories: ‘community offerings’, ‘year-round resources’ and ‘policies’. I’m ok with the layout, but not thrilled with the fabric choices. It’s pretty busy, and doesn’t go great with all the other art around. Eh, I’ll get around to changing it in a year or two.

I had some of that in my basement. It had a peculiar smell, as I recall. Kind of papery or cardboard-y.
