The boys and I had an adventure and went to Kansas City to visit IKEA. It was a fine, fine visit, and I only had two things I needed to buy. Unfortunately, they don’t make one of them anymore. No matter, it was still fun. Lloyd suffered through bravely.
We stayed at a La Quinta, and I don’t know if they are all like this, but it was designed like a funhouse. The hallway had four ramp/risers in it and it felt very much like walking through the hotel in The Shining. It was a little freaky.
After all the IKEAing, we had some time to kill before Beth arrived to pick up Lloyd and take him to meeting at St. Paul School. Lloyd found a waterfall park and we went for a very short, very hot hike.
Proof that we were all here:
Crossing the creek, the boys leapt about on the stones like young goats, while I stood around holding my icy drink, which I sipped from frequently so I wouldn’t catch on fire from the sun. Lloyd squatted down to get video of me falling in the creek. This is my stare when I told him, “I could stand here all day.” Eventually he stopped filming and I backed up to an easier spot.
Back at the car, I collapsed into a sweaty nap. Ahhhhh, nature.
