Lloyd and Samith are always going to dinner and a movie, so this was not as big a deal for them, but when Samith called to say he had tickets to see Nick Offerman, I was so excited! (I was also a little worried, since I am dead weight at night.)
I left work a little after 5 and met them in Lincoln. I was in a parking garage! With people! We walked to a cool-person pizza place, Blaze Pizzeria, where it’s set up like Subway. You tell them your order and they put it together assembly-line style and cook it right in front of you in a fire. I was in a restaraunt! With people! And fire!
We walked to the Lied Center where I was once again just surprised at how many people there are in the world. Not that I don’t get that there are billions and billions of people in the world, it’s just that I’m usually only around a few dozen. Lloyd googled that the theater holds over two thousand people. Two thousand people assembled to do the same thing. Huh.
Nick was pretty funny. As with most comedians, there was plenty of profanity in his show. He made observations about the world in general, and while I didn’t agree with some of what he said, he was quite entertaining. He sang several songs and accompanied himself on his guitar, which was fascinating to me. (I think that is like magic.) He is not the character, Ron Swanson, but his encore act was singing “Bye, Bye, Lil’ Sebastian” from Parks and Rec. That was hilarious and could not have been better!
Afterward, all 2,000 people cleared out of that theatre surprisingly quickly, but the parking garage was jammed. We went up to the top level and visited (at night!) to let it clear out and then went home. I was exhausted when we got back, but plenty happy.
Thank you, Samith!

I don’t know that guy, the comedian, but glad you did and had a fun night out! Good for you to go “against your grain” sounds like. Life is an adventure!
