Lloyd’s Uncle Mahlon went to be with Jesus last week. He had been suffering from dementia for a while, so it is a blessing that now he has woken up from that fog and is with his Savior.
Speaking of fog, let’s talk about the trip down to Oak Grove for the funeral. Lloyd, Sam and I left Seward around 8:15 to drive down to just east of Kansas City. The trip down was pleasant. The boys sat in front, and I sat in the back and pretended that I could hear the conversation. (The Prius is surprisingly noisy.) We made a couple of stops, and somewhere along the line, Sam misplaced his glasses. (A prayer for their finding would be appreciated, just for peace of mind.)
We stopped for a quick lunch beforehand with some of Sam’s family, then went to the funeral home. I haven’t been to a funeral home service before (that I can remember), so it was different, but nice. There were lots of family members, and also ‘strays’ that spoke highly of Mahlon and how he took them in as family. It was very sweet.
There was a little luncheon afterward, but we got on the road. Everything was fine until we saw that northwest Missouri, Iowa and southeast Nebraska were having some icy weather. The boys were fine but I was uncomfortable. Luckily, I had to just sit in the backseat and play games on my iPad like a child, so I didn’t even have to look at the road. Lloyd drove like a champion and we made it home safe and sound.
Have a wonderful week, everyone!

So glad that you were able to get there and back safely. God’s peace to your family as you trust God’s promise of a joyful reunion with Uncle Mahlon in heaven with Jesus.

I will always remember Uncle Mahlon for his SWEET sweet tea. And I always remember him when we read Ruth. Mahlon was the name of her husband or brother-in-law.
