Lloyd has all the photos on his phone and he conked out, so maybe heading over to Brad’s site for documentation might be your best bet.
If you are friends with Lloyd on Facebook, you saw that we were walking yesterday and I saw a turtle right by the shore, it was great. (There were actually two.) I knew they came up to see me, since a Lauren on Maui is such a rare sight.
Saturday began with another sunrise walk on the beach, which was rockier than the previous day, but still beautiful. Then got ready for the day and met up for some breakfast and then a trip to the Swap Meet. That was super fun – lots of booths with interesting things to buy. Beth bought a coconut to drink and some jewelry, Dennis bought a cool hat, Brad bought a ring and Samith and Elaine both bought ukuleles. (It was so fun to test them!)
Afterward we went to a little town called Paia for a delicious lunch and some window shopping. Remind me later to tell you about the artist who carves 3-D doodles out of wood. They are fantastic!
Then we went to a beach where we saw turtles napping in the sunlight we decided that turtles are just sea cats. The surf was pretty high at that beach and while I wasn’t terrified, it was awe-inspiring. There is so much power in that water. If I think about it too much I freak out,
After that we took some time for naps and breaks, then met up for watching the sunset on the beach. The sunset was great, BUT we go to see a whale giving birth way out in the water, and then a tiger shark RIGHT BY THE SHORE. Samith has a great video of it that I hope gets posted later. A gentleman on the beach came to tell us that this shark was probably eating a turtle, and I got mad. Those turtles are my friends! Stupid shark.
Then we went out for a delicious birthday dinner and now I’m typing when I should be sleeping. Good night!
