Ugh. I am so sick of that bathroom. My attempts to make it better this weekend were only marginally successful.
On Saturday we went to a bunch of thrift stores (I was looking for a blender), and we stopped by ReStore, which is like a Goodwill store for home stuff: cabinets, furniture, sinks & lights – that kind of thing. This time they had shelves and shelves of pre-mixed paint in several colors. I picked up a brown for the bathroom and a grey for Brad’s room.
*sigh* It was time to begin.
The first hint that something was wrong was the smell of this paint. It smelled weird. It still smells weird and it’s dry now. Oh, well.
The second – and worst – thing was that when I started to roll, it got really pebbly. I have painted many, many times before and I’d never seen this. Usually it will smooth out, but this didn’t. I had to knock down the bumps with a paintbrush, and had to do that all around the bathroom. I was sad.
It’s 70% or 96% finished, depending on how you look at it. There are a couple of spots I could just touch up with a brush if I want to go the ‘weird brush-painted look’, or I could go over it all with the smooth rollers I bought today.

Sad to read of your disappointment!
So…don’t buy cheap paint! (Modified Grandma Norrie’s advice.)
