For years now, I thought that the tunnel would make a mighty fine tomb for Easter. However, it’s a lot of work and I’m not really up for that kind of stuff.
This year? Well this year we’re having a pandemic. I gave it some serious thought but then the weather report was supposed to be rainy and yucky, so I abandoned the idea. This morning I checked the weather again and guess what? Friday was supposed to be a pretty nice day.
To start: some luminaries! I had about forty lunch bags on hand.
Then I went to the center to clean up the playground.
A tomb needs a stone, and the only way Lauren can make one is out of cardboard spray-painted with the last dregs from a couple of cans. Not my finest work.
Next up: a backdrop for a cross. I wanted to used some of the acoustic paneling that we have, and was kicking myself because of of those odd jobs I finished this past week was spraying dye on the remaining six panels. Dang it, Lauren, why you gotta get stuff done? The dye needed to come off so it wouldn’t bleed in the rain and get all weird-looking. I laid it on the water table and sprayed it down.
Fun fact: it weighed a hundred pounds after that and took forever to drain. Eventually, I got it up on the fence.
Ok, time for reinforcements. The Other Sommerers, Beth and Tara came to fill the luminaries.
Sam brought one of his cool iron crosses to hang on the panel. I lit it from the back and the fence made a really cool effect around it.
My photos don’t do it justice, dang it. I posted it on Facebook, inviting people to drive or walk by, and several did. It was good. A good Good Friday, but only because of Jesus. 🙂

That’s super cool! And what a blessing for people to be able to drive or walk past during the quarantine time.

So cool, good job everyone! Wish I could have seen it in person. Happy Easter!
