I am not a plant person. When people talk to me about plants I say, “I’m not good with plants. I’m a huge disappointment to my parents.” My folks are great at gardening, and I just don’t have the gene.
However, this spring I am surprising myself. I have been outside more often (granted, it’s been nice and cool), and have planted these things and weeded! I even got out my ancient hedge trimmer and trimmed around the toaster!
Here is my tiny spaghetti sauce garden. I have one tomato plant, a basil plant, an oregano plant, and some garlic cloves in the back with the sticks to mark them. I’ve also planted radishes along the curvy stone line and some lettuce. My problem is that there are weeds there, too, and I’m not sure if I’m killing good sprouts or bad. Here’s hopin’

That’s a good spot sun-wise. Now it’s all about watering. Water them every day. Unless it rains. It’s hard to water vegetables too much.

Yes, I worry that I’ll forget about them once it gets hot and we start up again with kids at the center. I’ll need some reminders!
