For some reason, Lloyd and I had trouble sleeping Saturday night. I was up until midnight watching the t.v., and then was awake at 4:30. Lloyd said that he was up until 4:30, got up for online church, then right back to sleep. It’s weird.
I just decided to get up at 5:30 and make a tiny fire. I sat and drank some coffee, ate some toast and watched the sky light up. I wondered there were so many leaves on my neighbor’s roof.
After the sky was light enough, I saw what happened: A branch had broken off the tree!
I went into full freak-out mode and walked all around, making sure it hadn’t smashed anything open. From what I could tell, the roof was still intact and the branch was mostly resting on the house. Had this happened in the night? Did we have a storm? Was that why we had trouble sleeping?
Nope. We talked to our neighbor later in the morning and he said it happened the previous afternoon when a big gust came along. Dang!
A tree guy is going to come later this week to remove it. We offered to let them drive through our backyard to get to the spot, and that is the current plan. I am so thankful that this wasn’t worse!

It’s interesting to see a picture of the branch. I’m glad you posted it. I only saw the stump the branch left behind. It was big!
