Back story: Beth gave me a toaster oven for my summer kitchen, but I kept burning the tops of my loaves. It lives at school now, and has come in crazy handy for classroom cooking.
On Sunday, Brad and I stopped in a Goodwill to look around. I came across a small electric roaster with a surprise inside. I bought it for summer bread making and gave it a whirl.
To properly bake bread in the summer, it should be done outside on one’s gross front steps.
I loaded the dough into a covered vessel inside the little roaster……
…. then closed it all up.
What what??? See that little attachment? Isn’t it cool? The lid has a fan inside that turns it into a convection oven. It’s so much better for baking since a roaster doesn’t have a top element or much insulation on top. It worked a treat, despite smelling like an old, burning thrift store at the start.
Hooray! I can have summer bread!
