I’ve been going to be much earlier than I used to. For several weeks, I’m in bed or heading to bed around 9. Lauren Of The Past wouldn’t recognize me. To be fair, I am at work by 6:15 during the week, so this allows me to have lots of sleep. Ahhhh……. sleep.
During the early part of the pandemic, I was having some trouble sleeping, which is so unusual for me. It was hard to go to sleep, then to stay asleep – lots of random thoughts would keep me up. There were a few nights where I just got up and out of bed and DID stuff, and that was surprisingly fun.
It happened again Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was asleep by 9:30, and woke up at 3:30 to Lloyd reading. “I can’t sleep,” he said. I snuggled Ralph for a little bit and then thought, “Well, I can’t sleep, either. Might as well get up.”
I was SO productive! Before 7 a.m, I processed two loads of laundry, a batch of tomatoes, made bread dough, refilled soap dispensers, made breakfast, had a mini Council Fire, took a good little walk in the windy, beautiful dark and stopped at Beth’s house to drink coffee on her porch for a bit.
This won’t be a habit, but it certainly was fun.

I don’t like getting up early, but I LOVE being up early. There’s a calmness in the morning dark.
