Uncle Ralph died yesterday. (That’s Sam’s dad, for those of you that might not know.) I am not the best at expressing emotions, but I will say that I will miss him. He had a wry sense of humor, a great, rolling drawl in his voice, and an unmatched love of Johnny Cash.
Aside from Lloyd’s parents’ house, Ralph and Lolly’s was my first real introduction to the Sommerer clan. Our wedding shower was held at their house, and for this bewildered young doofus, it was lovely to see that great big family gather to welcome me into the fold. The Sommerers are like that – they just gather up family and claim them as their own.
We’ll miss you here, Ralph. I hope you are singing a duet with Johnny.
Deborah says
I am praying for his family and friends.
Brad says
Ditto to your statements. I remember seeing Ralph and Lolly when we’d visit in high school. Wonderful, wonderful people. I haven’t seen Ralph in years, but I know I will see him again. Christians never see each other for the last time.
Mark says
Prayers ascend for the entire Sommerer family. I agree with Brad: those who rest in the promises of Jesus never see each other for the last time. When we’re all in the new heaven and the new earth together, the entirety of human history will seem like the blink of an eye. Until then, we mourn, and we comfort each other with those promises. **Hugs** to Lloyd.
