I woke up at my normal time on my extra Saturday and made a council fire after digging out the chiminea. There was a fair amount of drifting all around it, but it was fun having a fire in the snow.
Then, I started on the ….. fifth? sixth? round on the driveway and sidewalks and Lloyd joined me. Holy cow. There is a bunch of snow. It has been nice seeing people with snowblowers going around and helping out other people.
Then I did a few chores so I could feel productive, then spent the rest of the day in my playhouse. I mean, shed.
Yesterday afternoon I worked on getting some more insulation in the ceiling, but it was a little discouraging. I didn’t have any more plastic (surgical-style) gloves so I tried to re-use some old ones, but the fingers fell off. Today I was wiser and just used a pair of old work gloves that I’ll throw out. After getting the insulation up, it was time to put up paneling!
Again, I am sure that there is something that I’ve done wrong in this whole process and let me make it clear that I do not care. It’s a shed. Lloyd had online class today and I said I’d call to him if I needed him.
I did not need him. I am Lauren. I can do anything as long as that ‘anything’ is not going to have to be done with skill.
First panel up!
You might not be as impressed as you should be. Let me say that that is a 4-foot-by-8-foot panel, and I got it up on the ceiling. I hear you ask, “How? You are weak.”
L-brackets. I screwed a little board along the wall and loosely hung some L-brackets on the ceiling 4 feet away. After a fair amount of huffing and puffing and wondering how I was going to get on the step stool, I did! I turned the L brackets around like faucet handles and it held the panel while I screwed it to the ceiling.
Next up – another panel.
This one was a little trickier because it had to go against the previous panel, and that darn stepstool was involved, but I made it!
The last panel had to be cut, and getting it up was not as much trouble.
After they were up, I cleaned up my mess. I used a couple of brackets to tack up a shelf so I could put all my junk on it, then swept up as much insulation and sawdust as I could.
It’s not bad. I worried it would be really wavy because my insulation is a little puffy in some places, but it’s just fine. It’s a shed, remember. 🙂

You are a genius!

A dark ceiling… bold choice. I do like the look of the wood though.
