My Mom went to be with Jesus Tuesday night. It has been such a blessing to be here with my family these past few days. We laughed, we cried, we prayed, we joked, we cried some more and it’s all been just right. Mom fought so hard until the end, then there was peace.
It’s not the official final draft, but:
Nancy Norene (nee Lorenz) Hofman was born in Mattoon, Illinois on September 24, 1937. She was baptized into Christ (October 10, 1937) and confirmed (March 18, 1951) in the Christian faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Graduating from Valparaiso University with a bachelor of science in education degree, she taught elementary grade school in Ohio, Missouri and Colorado. Nancy and the Rev. Marion C. Hofman were united in marriage at St. John’s Mattoon on August 28, 1960. The family moved to Delta in 1972. Nancy worked closely with the Delta County health community, serving first as a medical transcriptionist and then office manager for Delta Family Physicians until her retirement, and as a volunteer at the hospital. She found joy in gardening, landscaping, music, family and friends, and making an apple pie that was out of this world. She fell asleep in Jesus’ arms on September 14, 2021 at her home in Eckert following a valiant battle with myeloma cancer.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Leonore and her sister, Marcia. She is survived by her husband, Marion, her children Keren Elizabeth (Kurt), Mark Douglas (Rachel), Philip Steven and Lauren Kay (Lloyd), three grandsons, Charles, Jacob and Matthew, and three step-grandchildren, Whitney, Scarlett and Jack.
My brother Mark made a video that causes me to cry my eyes out. Thank you for your prayers, everyone.
