Way back in …August? when we bought the new living room furniture, the chairs weren’t supposed to arrive until the end of October. It gave me time to grieve my current chairs. Well, really just the big one. It’s ugly as can be, but it is so, so comfortable for curling up on to read or nap. Plus, there is room for a human and a cat.
Well, the chairs were delivered to Sam and Rachel’s house during Lloyd’s Big Sick, so I got to do all the fun stuff myself.
Here’s the old setup:
Very appropriate for Halloween, yes? All drape-y and whatnot. Well, I moved them into the dining room until we can properly deal with them. (I think they’ll be dismantled and thrown out bit by bit.)
It was sooooooo dirty behind them. My biggest sorrow while cleaning was that I didn’t find my yellow puzzle piece.
The way the chairs were packaged was brilliant, and I’m so glad. They are swivel-and-rock chairs, and thankfully the bottom mechanism was not yet attached. On its own, each of the mechanisms weighs 25 pounds. The actual chairs were much, much lighter. I just pulled up to the steps and yanked them inside.
Oy. So much shuffling.
I took my sweet time putting them together. I think I watched four episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine while I did, but it was worth it. There’s the final setup:
That ‘ottoman’ (fabric-covered trunk) doesn’t really go, so that’s a future project, but I’m quite pleased with the live-edge-bench-turned-end-table. It had to leave the dining room so I could put the chairs in there. It’s long enough to prop your feet on, and is quite handy for drinks and plates!
There were more projects within this project, but that’s for another post.
