The old living room chairs hid a variety of things – dust, cat hair, and electrical cords. The new chairs show so much floor (it will be necessary to clean more), and having charging cords everywhere ruined the look.
Over in the corner, there’s always been a big crock with a wooden piece on top that kind of functions as a table. It really just held a box of tissues and a basket of ten remote controls that we don’t need anymore. I thought I could turn it into the Charging Station. Charge Jar? Dock Crock? I don’t know.
I flipped over the piece of wood and discovered that Lauren From the Past had already attached a flange/bracket for some weird purpose. I don’t even know what it was for, but thankfully she had found the center point…. after several tries. I removed the flange, drew a notch for the cables, then did the world’s worst cutting with my jigsaw. Seriously, the actual cut is much, much bigger than I intended it to be, and it took lots and lots of sanding to get it to look….. less terrible. I also put some pieces of dowel so the piece won’t slide off the Cable Table. (There – that’s the one.)
I think it will work. There’s a extension-cord-type thing and the THREE different charging cords we need. The ends of the cords just hang out a bit and can be pulled out when needed.
It’s not my best work, but it is my work. Nobody expects perfection from me, we’re all just amazed I haven’t cut off a finger yet.
