Our weather was windy and stormy yesterday, but as in ‘spring storm’. The high was supposed to hit 70 degrees and we were under wind advisories. Nebraska is windy anyway, but we were going to have gusts of 75 MPH, so I suppose that’s a legitimate reason to think about safety. Local schools were either closed in advance or closing early. We are short-staffed at the center so we couldn’t open for the school-age children.
At the center, we are safe as can be. We have an enormous hallway and, if needed, rooms also. Plus, we have a real bathroom down there now! That was all very handy since we all spent 2:30-3:30 down there. Yep. Everyone’s cell phone got the ‘SEVER THUNDERSTORM WARNING. SEEK SHELTER.’ alert, so we went downstairs and did puzzles and games. Our pastor came over to help and did puzzles with a boy who thought he was the bee’s knees.
Seward is ok. There are a few branches down and things blown around, but nothing like east and north of here, where there were some actual tornados. This is so weird.
I was beat at the end of the day. Much of our college staff was told to stay home and not come to work since they would have been walking over in the high point of the wind and rain.
Anyway, today’s a new day. Happy Thursday, everyone!
