Our church is doing Lenten Meals again. If you’ll remember, my center hosted one – the Potato Bake. It grew into a great monstrosity and one year….. we didn’t have potatoes due to an error on our interim director’s part. It was one of my least favorite things to do. When COVID struck and we didn’t have them anymore, it was a silver lining in the whole mess.
Anyway, they began them again, and when we were asked if we’d like to host it, my answer was a resounding, “No.” I’m all for community and togetherness and all, but I needed to step off the train. Some parents and members of the board took over, and they did a great job.
I did help a little. I wrote a Thrivent grant for the event and came over to help in the kitchen during the dinner. (I know how frustrating it is to not get help, and couldn’t be ‘That Person’.) Long story short, they did a splendid job and I am grateful to them for doing it.
Happy Thursday!
