After nap yesterday, the first little guy woke up and we went over to the window. I opened the blinds and one of the neighbor cats was out in the yard. (My classroom faces some backyards.) I pointed him out and we watched him. He would stare off into the distance and then put his face down to the ground, repeating this motion over and over. William asked what he was doing.
“I think he’s….. eating something, ” I answered.
“What?”
“…… a leaf. Or maybe some kind of food.”
William got out our binoculars, but thankfully the cat was too close to be in focus. Later, I went out to see for myself. (The scribble is for your benefit.)
Yep. He was definitely eating a leaf. Not the crunchy front half of a vole, that’s for sure.
