It was a very short trip to see Dad. I got to the house late Friday night. The flights were fine, and the rental car place stayed open until everyone with a reservation got off the plane. Yay!
Saturday I tried to help with some jobs around the place. His leg is not great in the mornings, but with ice, heat and medication, he can walk around pretty well. It is tiring, though, and I can’t believe he doesn’t complain. I would be moaning the whole time, but he’s made of tougher stuff than me.
I helped with a bit of yard work, then vacuumed, then washed some windows so the view of the birds is better. I even did a Wal-Mart grocery order and we zipped down to Delta to pick it up. Then I did some bad cooking, but Dad is like Lloyd – he’ll eat anything I make with no complaint.
Something unexpected was that Mom’s headstone was installed on Friday, so on Saturday we went up to see it in picked the most beautiful cemetery – it is up on a little mesa (flat mountain/hill) and completely hidden from the roads. All around are just these spectacular views. Dad and Keren had sprinkled some grass seed on Mom’s grave and the grass was tall with little purple flowers. Mom loved flowers, so that was just so charming.
We looked at the stone, admired the craftsmanship and design, then cried a little. We miss her but we don’t miss what she was going through. She is in a much, much, much better place!

Hehe… I’ve forgotten about that -- the guy with the wavery voice.
