A couple of months ago, some new cubbies/lockers were delivered to all the classrooms. We got a grant for these, and were able to afford a very nice brand. All the other classrooms were able to put theirs in the room right away. I couldn’t, because I only have 18 cubbies, and this year I had 21 students.
This what my room has always looked like – the stair-shaped cubbies with green drawers are where we would keep our stuff (I have two of these) and everyone had a hook for their coats.
And knowing that a large chunk of my class would leave before lunchtime, I’ve been percolating on a good set up for these new cubbies. I didn’t want them to go across the windows, because it would block a fair amount of the view. Fortunately I have an app on my iPad that allows me to move furniture with the flick of a finger.
I liked this set up because it is semi-symmetrical, and the windows are still available. Lloyd help me bring them into the classroom, and then I spent another hour or so figuring out where furniture was going to go. This isn’t its final form, but it’s good enough for now.
I don’t know if I’ll keep the old green-drawerEd cubbies. They could be used to hold supplies, I guess.
