I woke up around 4 this morning and was genuinely confused about if today was Monday or Tuesday. I was going to cry if it were only Monday, so it’s good that I got it straightened out. 😉
We’ve been working on upping our game at school regarding expressing/teaching about faith through the environment, and I’ve been ordering pictures for the classrooms. Some folks in the congregation have been offering pictures that are…. how can I express this delicately and not sound judge-y….. creepy. Young children need to know that Jesus loves them, no matter what. So much that he saved them. There is a reason children’s Bibles have sweet little drawings in them – we are the baby Christians. So, I am drawn to images that show Jesus delighting in children, as you might recall from this post.
Joyful paintings – like this one.
I love it!

I love that picture!
I really enjoy the topic of Jesus pictures. I have been talking a lot about it lately, since new people are seeing the Obi-Wan picture in my classroom.

I just got a marketing email from the place I ordered a Jesus picture from. The whole site is interesting, but there was a link to this artist:

She has a bunch of pictures of smiling-Jesus with kids. He has blue eyes. That tends to distract me when I see it. But get this -- her name is Liz Lemon!

Lauren, As I wrote in my e-mail to you, do we middle-school, junior high school, high school, college age, young adults, middle age adults, senior adults, end-of-life adults, realize that He who is God to us is not dower-faced but the happy, smiling God?
