Here comes the bride…

November 16, 2006 by Lauren 4 Comments

little worker beers...er, bees

And the groom, and the wedding planners.  Tonight we worked on getting John and Kate’s wedding invitations made.  It must be what Santa’s elves feel like – knowing the joy it will bring to all the good little boys and girls.

I was assigned to cutting detail, because I have the big knife.

You call that a knoife? 'At's a knoife.

The Bat Man

November 14, 2006 by Lauren 7 Comments

While getting ready for bed, I heard a *scrabble scrabble* from the vent to the attic fan in the hall.  It’s the first bat of the season!  I went to tell Lloyd (who – as you’ll read about in the lower post – was comfortably in bed after drowning his sorrows from the worst day ever).  He rose to the challenge, though.  Whistling the theme from ‘The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly’ and wearing a fleece poncho we’ve been using as a blanket, he went to catch that bat.  It involves propping the vent open with a broom, waiting until the bat comes out, then catching it with a sheet to release it into the wild.  My job is to hide behind a door – this time with a camera.

Exhibit A

No pants, but he has a bat.

The poncho fell off in the scuffle.

I’m glad he caught that bat.  It surely would have eaten us in the night.

Worst Day Ever.

November 14, 2006 by Lauren 2 Comments

Poor Lloyd.  Something went tragically wrong this afternoon and the server at school died.  (He tried explaining what happened, but all I hear is ‘blah blah blah’ with some acronyms thrown in.)  Anyway, he drowned his sorrows, and kept uttering the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.  “I’m like other men.” (He says this when he can’t fix a computer problem.  Mere mortal.)

Note the many beer bottles on the table.

Nothin’.

November 13, 2006 by Lauren 7 Comments

I got nothin.  I had some parent-teacher conferences tonight, and now I’m just sitting around waiting for Lloyd to come back from choir practice.

Here’s a drawing that I did a long time ago for our ‘About me’ page that for some reason can’t show up.

Let's hear it for Lloyd being easy to draw - scribble, scribble

A productive day.

shiny, shiny bathroom

Whoa!  Shiny!

Yeah, it’s brown!  A rich, deep brown called Bavarian Oak, appropriate since after seeing my mother’s family tree I found that many of my ancestors are from Bavaria.  We Bavarians aren’t afraid of color.  (And make all your color-of-poop jokes now – there’s not a one I can’t handle.)

Here’s a different view that’s not so shiny.  In other news, I mowed up all the leaves in the yard.  Lloyd is still stuck at work putting all that junk away.

Brown is a most excellent color.

All Day.

November 12, 2006 by Lauren 1 Comment

Watch out for killer frogs.

Here we see the Lloyd in his natural habitat, surrounded by computers, servers, and frogs.  Today the Lloyd spent ALL DAY moving things around inside those computer things, while his wife went slowly insane.  (Some shopping was done, but then…..)

Part of the Lloyd’s habitat is polluted by the natural wastes they exude, and that section of the cage had to be cleaned.

Who's kidding who?

Lloyd asked for help pulling stuff out of the server room (er, closet) so he could sort through it and clean it up.  Here it is all over the table in the computer lab.

Holy moly, that's a lot of cables.

I have complete and total faith that he will get it done tomorrow.  He’s wicked good at cleaning up.
