I almost did it. I made it to all but one of the graduation parties that I was invited to this year. Lincoln Lutheran’s last day of school was Friday and all but three of the parties were Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I think I went to 10 parties for a total of about 20 students (it’s pretty common here for multiple students to have a graduation party together). I have not officially had enough graduation cake.
This year I tried something new. One of our seniors had all of the other seniors put their party information into a Google Form (which gets shoved into a spreadsheet). Then we took that information and used a website called batchgeo that takes spreadsheets worth of data and turns it into maps.
Then the seniors could share the maps with whoever they wanted and I shared them with the other teachers.
The letters on the push-pins are the order of the parties, but I still had to do some work by hand to try to minimize travel time. I was mostly unsuccessful. I think there was a total of about 180 miles of parties.
They were a good class. As I shared with some of them a few weeks ago, “Just when you start to become people you leave.”
