First Grade

October 3, 2012 by Lauren 5 Comments

Photo time!

Mrs. Brown was a good teacher. I think. How would I remember?

I don’t have any good stories about first grade. I do remember loving those green overalls I’m wearing in the picture, though. They had an apple appliqué on the knee with the words “I love you”. I’m not sure if it was a sentiment between my knee and the apple, or an awkward placement of my own 6-year-old declaration of affection, but whatever – loved the duds.

New jewelry

September 30, 2012 by Lauren 2 Comments

I got a new necklace today!

It's from one I already had.

It was a little DIY, as I had to add my own string-thing,

So sculptural, isn't it?

Because…..

What the what??

It’s a flash drive!

Awesome gadget for the win! I only need it once in a while, and now I won’t lose it when I do.

Now Lloyd is cool, too. Thanks, Tammy!

Friday afternoon I started feeling sick, so Saturday was a day of alternating between sleeping and trying to get things done. I believe that I made a post earlier about weekend coma naps, where one of the symptoms is thinking that someone is in the house. Well, during one of my naps, I thought I heard Beth, and it turns out – it was really her! She dropped off a bag for Lloyd from Tammy, the amazing knitter!

Excellent color choice, in my opinion.

It is truly awesome – great colors and even magnetic snaps on the flap!

I’ll let Lloyd express his thanks in his own words:

I love it!

Curiously ineffective

September 28, 2012 by Lauren 8 Comments

So, that water gun I bought that is so amazing? Well, it turns out that it is nearly as useless as the squirting dinosaurs as far as the kittens are concerned. They just take it, soaking up squirts and squirts, then lazily climbing down to lick it off, saying, “Thanks for the drink, lady.”

Lloyd’s comment is, “Great, we’re raising cats who aren’t afraid of water.”

By the way – I am aware that the second kitten in that drawing looks like a monkey. Or a squirrel.

Drawing is hard.

Huh.

September 28, 2012 by Lauren 4 Comments

I forgot to write a post last night. That hasn’t happened in quite a long time. I had plans to go to bed by 9, but I was trying to find pictures for Lloyd to put in the church presentation and gave up because it wasn’t going well, and I went to bed.

Oops.

After today one of the big projects will be over. I’m showing some stuff to a group of moms this morning. Their group name is MOPS, which stand for Mothers Of PreSchoolers. I pray – oh, how I pray – that I will not accidentally say Mothers Against PreSchoolers.

Or anything else stupid.

Heh. What are the chances?

Two weeks.

Not bad – very mild.

Very annoying.

Any advice welcome.
