Heit’s Point… The Movie

I didn’t know I was going to do this until Lauren found the song on iTunes. After that I had no choice. Sorry about the pictures. We only had the ones that Brad, Lauren and I shot, and they were never intended to fill up 3 minutes and 28 seconds of time. If I was really going to do this I would have asked Brad and Lauren to take 2 million pictures… Oh well.

Since I teach Video Editing to our high school students, I feel obligated to grade this. I give it a “B-“.

Stop action week

Lauren and I played around with stop action animation during the past week. A student in my Video Editing class did a really cool lego stop action animation project, and it looked like fun, so while I was preparing a “lesson on DVD” last week I made a little stop action movie to keep the kiddies interested. The lesson was great, 20 minutes of animation, diagrams, voice overs… It had so much learning in it that you couldn’t take a bite without biting into one. Then my computer crashed and 5 hours of work went with it. I didn’t redo the lesson (I was too disheartened) but I did salvage the stop action sequence.

Lauren saw it and wanted to show me up, so she did one of her own. I learned a bit from my experience, and instead of using a video camera and editing just the frames I wanted, she used a digital camera and the process went a lot faster. Here they are:

One good trick

If you’re not Brad (or us), you’ve never seen Pfennig in “action”.  The world’s laziest cat has one trick – divining for water.  She’s remarkable – she finds it every single time! 

This video may look cute, but I want to shoot her when she digs for water at 3 a.m.  “It’s IN the BOWL, idiot!!”

Dancing Queen

Bethany can dance… Charles and Deborah stopped by over Christmas break, and, every once in a while, while we were listening to some tunes and generally making fun of Brad, a song would play that Bethany found particularly compelling and she would turn into a dancing machine. As you might have heard, Lauren got a new camera for Christmas, so we actually have evidence. Note Macy obliviously playing in the foreground (she’s obviously seen this sort of thing before) and Phennig watching in the background (she’s obviously not seen this sort of thing before).
